CCP’s “TOOTSIE!!”, The Musical!”

Character Breakdown:

Hello!

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Tootsie with CCP!  I am excited to get started!  I thought I would give you a little bit of information to help you better prepare.  You will see a list of characters and what you will need to show for each, in addition I am going to tell you a little about what I am looking  to see.

First off, I am an actor’s actor.  I want to see the acting. Beautiful singing and dancing is wonderful, but if the character has no depth, I get bored as an audience member.  So I want to see you flex your acting muscles.  To that end the audition will give you a fun and safe place to do that, so be prepared to move, use your space and be silly. That brings me to my second priority, HAVE FUN!!  This is my hobby, my release, and my outlet.  I want this to be a fun experience for everyone.  I want you to look forward to coming to practice. 

I want you to feel valued and respected.  To that end, I ask that all participants are respectful of each other.  For me, the first way to make me feel frustrated and not respected is to waste my time.  So be on-time and ready to go.  And if you can’t, let me know that life happened and you are running late.  Communicate your needs and we can work together.

Here are the main characters and speaking roles.  However, there are multiple opportunities for “break-out solo’s” and “one-liners” throughout this production.  So even if you are asked to be a part of the ensemble, you may be asked to sing to deliver a line later.
